Giving

A keen sense of our obligation to support our local parish through giving is part of the Patrimony that the Ordinariate celebrates and observes. Indeed, the original liturgical texts that form the inspiration of the current Divine Worship: The Missal, going back to the First Book of Common Prayer promulgated under King Edward VI in 1549, all provided spiritual exhortations to the faithful regarding the spiritual good of giving. These exhortations are known as The Sentences. Here are some examples:

Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive'.
— Cf. Acts 20:35

All things come of thee, O Lord, and of thine own do we give thee.
— 1 Chronicles 29:14

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
— Hebrews 13:16

Give alms of thy goods, and do not turn thy face away from any poor man; and then the face of God shall not be turned away from you.
— Tobit 4:7

Hopefully, The Sentences encourage you to click the ‘Donate’ link on this page or bring your donation to Mass.

Not everyone can give. But when we can, rest assured that it does our souls much good to support the work of Our Lord here at the parish. Nor does it have to be much to make a difference. If God has put the resolution in your heart to give, please listen to it and "do all such good works" as He "hast prepared for us to walk in." Even if it seems small to you, every little bit helps. And like the widow's mite, even a little given with the right intention can be a meaningful source of grace.

May God bless you for your offering.
